It's funny. People ask us "what machine do we use," as if there's some magic bullet out there (like laser welders, CAD progams, mills, rapid prototyping machines blah blah blah). Don't get me wrong, We love technology...especially when it works ! It doesn't matter if it's "high tech" or "low tech," but let's face it, anything slapped with "high tech" is kinda romantic...
We use a spring that when it's wound and released, it rotates an arm that generates the force to "throw" the metal into the flask. It's as low-tech as you can get, but hey, the proof is in the results - everything else is just details. Our process however has been converging and honed toward perfection over years of experience and a deep and wide variety of models we've received.
The process begins on the computer (or wax carver's bench). If a customer submits CAD files to mill/cast, we'll optimize if necessary (let's face it, just becuase it can be drawn on a computer doesn't mean it will cast well in platinum!), machine and cast. It's the most reliable system and process...hardly ever failures or surprises in the finishing process.
Let's keep our eye on the ball here: results = success - who cares how it gets there?
